White Out gives almost the whole frame to nothing at all. A dark coat, a line of footprints filling in behind it, and snow thick enough to have taken the horizon with it. It is the quietest work in the gallery and the only one that is mostly empty — which is why it hangs at full width, where the emptiness is the subject rather than a fault.

Process

Left flat and uncorrected — no vignette, no added contrast, nothing darkened at the edges to help the eye find the figure. Whoever looks has to do the work.
