The Moon Window gives a room a single opening and lets it carry everything: mountains, water and a white sky held inside a perfect circle, with plum blossom reaching across it from a jar on the table. The rest — the bowl, the cup, the cushion set down on the floor, the bulb burning under its dark shade — is arranged as though someone were about to sit, and no one does.
Process
Every surface was built in short overlapping strokes so the walls read as plaster mended many times over; the view through the window is the only part of the picture left smooth.
