Gold Lining sets three plain things against a wall of blocks: a heavy round vessel, a bare branch carrying a handful of white blossoms, and a black bowl that keeps its gold where only someone standing over it would find it. Everything on show is chalk, ash and cracked plaster. The one rich surface in the picture is turned away.

Process

The wall was built as overlapping panels of knife-work and left cracked throughout, so nothing in the picture holds a clean edge except the gold inside the bowl.
