The Long Watch is a portrait of someone who has not moved in a very long time. The verdigris plate and brass rings still hold their shape, but lichen has taken the joints and a hedge of small flowers has come into bloom across the shoulder and helm. A thin gold circle stands behind her head — half halo, half surveyor's mark — and her eyes stay closed.
Process
Metal, moss and skin were kept under one soft light so none of them reads as an effect; the blossom is held to a single pale pink so the armour never tips into decoration.
