The Crossing sets its argument out plainly. A gate the size of a cliff, already open. A path of light laid across the water. A single figure halted on the near side, with nothing at all barring the way. The whole weight of the picture rests on the pause.
Process
Laid in as slabs of grey and black with gold worked into the joints, so the only warm light in the picture is the light coming through the arch.
