The Treasurer takes the corvid's logic entirely seriously: everything it ever carried off, worn at once. Amethyst at the brow, citrine and peridot down the wing, a gilded plinth to stand on — and underneath all of it a plain black bird that has clearly won.

Process

The ground was scraped back to bare gold in places so the bird stands against a wall that is already treasure — the black of the feathers is the only cool colour left in the picture.
