Ember Grain sets the series' warmest core against its coolest surroundings — a violet ear of wheat splitting open on a lens of amber that burns like a coal. The last heat of a harvest.

Process

The husk was painted in dry, dusty strokes so the amber seam could stay glassy — the contrast is in the surface, not the colour.
